Living with lupus is more than just about symptoms, medication, & treatment.Laughter and a positive mental attitude are essential nutrients in the daily diet of life and there is always a story to tell.

In this space I want to share my story with you and hopefully together we can discover more coping mechanisms and strategies and ways in which we can laugh longer and more often.

In my early diagnosis of lupus, I was looking for a way to navigate my way through the challenges that lupus posed and I discovered that being able to laugh loudly and often was really a help in managing life day to day; a fact Norman Cousins who is known as the man who laughed himself to wellness, proved.

I was angry and I needed someone to blame and changing lupus into a character became a way to not only acknowledge what was happening to me but also to find a way to deal with it.

I guess men were an obvious target (for reasons I will not go into here) and so my challenge became a battle and war with mr lupus (notice deliberate small m and small l ) I soon found that not only was I able to find ways to laugh at the situation but also my thoughts and musings were an encouragement and support to others.

So laughing with mr lupus became the way to manage my situation.
